Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners form an integral part of our acute care clinical team and assist with triage and assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe and refer to hospital if required.  They can discuss your case with the duty GP if necessary.

Paul Marshall PgCert. BA(Hons) RN NIP
Paul was latterly an advanced nurse specialist in rheumatology at the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases, Glasgow Royal Infirmary.  Prior to this he worked in acute medicine in Lanarkshire and Glasgow hospitals.  He is an independent nurse prescriber and is able to perform joint(intra-articular) injections.  Paul works full-time and is our lead nurse.

Lesley Moor BN RN
Lesley has experience in surgical nursing in Lanarkshire and latterly intensive care nursing at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.  In the coming months, she is going to undertake courses – including nurse prescribing – to become a fully qualified ANP.  Lesley works full-time.

Katie Whyte BSc DipHE RN NIP
Katie was formerly a practice nurse for many years however latterly she was diabetic specialist nurse in South Lanarkshire.  As well as minor illnesses, she will help review our diabetic patients especially those on insulin and other therapies.  She is an independent nurse prescriber.  Katie works full-time.

Practice Nurses

Our Practice Nurses are qualified registered nurses and carry out chronic disease management clinics, cervical cytology (“smears”) & health promotion.

Margaret Dunbar BA RGN
Margaret has been a practice nurse for many years having worked in intensive care before this and performs the full range of CDM clinics with a particular interest in asthma/COPD.  She works part-time.

Isla MacAninch BSc RN
Isla has a background in surgical nursing and is an experienced practice nurse.  She will see those patients with diabetes not on insulin.  Insulin dependent diabetics will be referred to either Katie Whyte (see above) or the community diabetic nurse specialists.  She works full-time.

Laura Smith BSc RN
Laura is our trainee practice nurse having worked in palliative care nursing recently.  She will be undertaking courses relevant to the practice nurse role whilst being supported by our other nurses.  She works full-time.

Mental Health Liaison Nurses

Experienced MH nurses who will support the team in providing care for mental health issues including signposting to the relevant services and third-sector organisations along with providing advice to the other clinicians on aspects of mental health.

Treatment Room Nursing Staff

Employed by NHS Lanarkshire, the treatment room staff provide a phlebotomy service, wound review/dressing, ear syringing and other nursing interventions.

Our General Practice Clinical Pharmacists are able to help you with your prescriptions and carry out medicines management reviews in addition to seeing relevant patients face-to-face.  They are supported by our prescription administrators.
