Out of Hours

The surgery closes at 6pm each evening and opens again at 8am the following morning. The surgery is closed all day Saturday and Sunday and each public holiday determined by NHS Lanarkshire.  Out-of-hours service is covered by NHS24 and is the responsibility of NHS Lanarkshire.

In the event of illness that cannot wait until the surgery opens contact:- NHS24 on 111

A  call handler in the emergency call centre will answer your call and either ;-

  • Arrange for you to speak to a doctor or nurse.
  • Invite you to attend one of the five NHS24 centres (located within Lanark Health Centre, Wishaw General, Hairmyres Hospital, Monklands Hospital and Cumbernauld) to be seen by a doctor or ANP.
  • Arrange a home visit, if you are too ill to visit the centre.

Transport to and from the emergency centre is available if you cannot arrange this yourself. Please take a leaflet for further details from Reception.

NHS24 is also accessible via their website, www.nhs24.scot

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
